Dear Sisters, As-Salaam Alaekum Waharamatulahi Wabarakatuhu, May the peace and blessings’ of Allah (swt) be with the noblest of mankind the Holy Prophet (saw), his companions and those who follow him till the day of judgement, Amin.

The formation of Women’s Wing in 2005 which was formally launched in July 2009 was a brilliant and justified idea brought up by the women of the branch. Women’s Wing is open to all adult sisters from age 18 irrespective of their marital status (single, married, pensioners and widow). We welcome new members and encourage everybody to participate in our activities, events and meetings.

Aims and Objectives

In line with Women’s Wings’ through monthly meetings, events, primarily our aims and objectives are as follows:

  • To provide closer interaction among women.
  • To foster social interaction and provide a platform for networking.
  • To create more awareness on Islamic culture.
  • To assist and enhance Nasfat growth and development as a strong Islamic organization worthy of emulating
  • To join hands in the propagation of Islam Monotheism.

Meetings & Events

Women’s wing Meeting: Primarily we hold our monthly meeting every 2nd Sunday of the month immediately after asalatu.

Usra Group meeting: every 3rd Monday of the month from 6pm – 9pm

Quarterly:

Women’s wing Meeting retreat programme / seminar: the first retreat programme was held in December 2011, with a lecture on diabetic which was delivered by Dr Durojaye Akintola (link may be provided for members to view the snap shot of the lecture)

Nasfat Children Eid Party 1st Saturday after Eid (Eid ul- Adha)

Group Activities

To arrange, organise and participate in local community charitable events and where possible organise Islamic, health lectures and workshops on the following areas;

  • Ablution                                
  • Janaba
  • Salat
  • Islamic Dressing
  • Basic Islamic Tenet
  • Raising Children in lslam
  • Health lectures/workshop: Diabetic, Cancer, Sickle Cells etc
  • Marriage and Genotype. (Blood Group)

Support to members where possible

  • In times of need to provide moral and physical support
  • Visit the sick and bereaved members/family
  • To provide physical and financial support (where necessary)
  • Counselling

Establishment of Usra Group (Usra means family) 

Alhamdulilahi, Usra Group was established on Thursday 18th March 2010. Aim: This is a prayer session held one evening a month to meditate with other sisters to pray together to seek for guidance and help from Allah to lighten the load of their individual and collective needs. Also included are prayers for the needy, our children, fruit of the womb, just to mention a few.  This is solely for sisters to enable them express themselves in an homely environment.

Meetings are held in the evening from about 6pm on 3rd Mondays of every month.

Coordinators’: Alhaja Shote and Alhaja A Musa

Welfare committee

Aims:   primary objective is to visit and provide pastoral care i.e. focus on all welfare needs of all members.

Coordinator: Alhaja Afolabi

Volunteers are urgently required; please forward your name to Alhaja Aminu Women’s Leader.

Women’s Wing Finance

Monthly contribution: All members of the Women’s’ wing are expected to contribute a minimum of £5.00 monthly which is recorded on the members’ contribution card (brown card). All monies collected are recorded and deposited in Women’s Wing Bank Account.

Collector: Sister Ramat Olubode

Monies collected are used to facilitate all activities mentioned above and regular updates are given at monthly meetings

Bank: Women’s Wing has a dedicated bank account.

Donation / Visit: Women’s Wing has donated money to a number of local charities and other non profit organisations. The organisations are listed below:

  • Marie Curie – (Cancer Patients Support);
  • 46th Woolwich Deplorers’ Unit (Scouting for Disabled Youth);
  • GreenwichCarers Centre (Support for Carers Young/Adult);
  • Mouth & Foot Painting Artist (Promoting Arts for those without hands);
  • Muslim Hands (Fundraising to support Children inAfrica);
  • Muslim Aid (Fundraising to support countries affected by Natural Disaster);
  • Saffronland Homes (Holiday Donation for Vulnerable Women with Sensory disabilities;
  • Pecham Settlements – Hour Bank (Donation for Summer  activities for Volunteers)
  • The Group reps. had visited two Residential Homes in London Borough of Southwark to observe their living condition and offer support.

Women’s wing also contributes to Nasfat Children Eid Party however money contributed by members is not use for social events but mainly for charitable causes.
